FBM just posted their classic video from the mid nineties, “Ring Of Fire.” The 20-minute video features Mike Tag, Magilla, Colin Winkelmann, Wilbur Barrick, Steve Crandall, Jeff Harrington, Stew Johnson, and more. Check out this glimpse of BMX/FBM history…
“This Video was released in 1995 after a few months of traveling in Indiana, Ohio, Chicago, Iowa, and even our first trip to Southern California. Gilly and I drove out to Huntington Beach with Kevin Landis in a stripped down 1980 Datsun with no radio and bad shocks. Some time after getting back from that trip we compiled the footage shown in this video,while we lived at the “Fat House”. After I feeble grinded a flaming bench out of the front door, we nearly lit the entire porch on fire accidentally. Coincidentally that house burnt down years later… This was way before HD and Twitter, but the riding in some of the video is still relevant to this day, even though we filmed it on a borrowed camera and edited in Chris Rye’s basement. Hello, I am a mother of two young boys, ages 12 and 14 that I home school. I checked to see what they were doing on the computer and was disgusted and outraged when I saw what they were watching. I can’t believe that you (Ride BMX), which usually seems to have wholesome content and good role models, would stoop so low to try and get people to view your site. I found this FMB video extremely offensive, in poor taste, and not remotely close to being acceptable for the age of children your site caters to. Where do I even start, destroying property, fire, fireworks, drinking alcoholic beverages, and homosexuality (the young man with the bleached blond hair was obviously a homosexual) I hope in the future that you (Ride BMX) think a little about what you are posting and who the intended viewers are. My concern is not for my own children (since they are no longer allowed on your site) but for the other parents who have children that may visit this site. As for the FMB group, I’m sure you are good at the trick/stunts you perform however that is no excuse for the behavior I witnessed in this video. Children like mine look up to the people they see in these videos and try to emulate what they do when they are out on their stunting bikes. Couldn’t you find something more positive to do with your time and the passion you have for bike stunting, like starting a bicycle company perhaps?

i dont know what to say first..is it the fact that this lady is so distant from reality that she thinks a bmx video is what she should ban her kids from or the fact she got on the computer to type a comment about what she thought instead of just turning it off when she didnt like it.. i’m guessing that by the age of her kids she was about 20 or so when this vid was made.. would be interesting to see what she was up to behind closed doors when whe was that age an what she would tell her kids about her ‘teenage years’.. my god.. help us all
