I had a Poverty Buck 99 frame (still do!) and it weighs about as much
on it's own compared to my new complete Hoffman (07 Loyalty) I've built hah hah!

When I was riding that, I felt like it was hard to ride/bunny hop because of the weight (I got weak arms, yo) but after I kind of got used to it, I almost LIKED it! I dunno, that was my first “real” bike these days.I took it to some trails one day, and as heavy as it is, I actually felt pretty safe on it because it seemed so strong and it was solid as a tank. But it's still not the bike for me (too heavy)

Some people just prefer very heavy bikes I guess for strength reasons.. Me? It can't be light enough! I have an old DB from when I was a kid, it weighs about 27 lbs. THAT'S light!! I can't imagine these 23 lb. bikes kids have now..

I mean I've heard come pissing, moaning about the fact that people are building up lighter, and lighter bikes. I saw why not have a light bike. The companies are pumping out strong products at almost half the weight of the old parts. I mean my bike weighs like 28-29 pounds, and if I had the money I would defiantly be out there buying parts to get it down to the low 20's. I mean there will always be a negative, positives, and there will always be people who will bitch about everything just things are changing.

My Fly is 5.4 lbs or something, and the whole bike is maybe 29lbs and it feels real good. I like lightness but only to a certain extent. I picked up those Eastern plastic pedals and so far they work great. I don't do pedal grinds so they should last a while. Heavy bikes build muscle though…mmm muscle.

i could go for a heavier frame. my mac got tore up when i slipped up on a bubuca,,,paint looks bad as anything on the downtube near the fork. i think the only reason the mac is so light is because somone used fingerpaint on the frame…

a frame that is low to mid fives is perfect. when you go to light you risk bending and killing the frame. which is gay cuz shit is expensive
