If there were an award for the most impressive/original looking work place, Oakley would own it hands down (if you can call a place with a regulation-sized basketball court and a movie theatre a “work place.”). I got the chance to go over last week and am still amazed at what I saw. Their testing facility alone rivals a NASA lab (I’m still blown away by their “BB in the eye” test - we’ll show it to you in part two of this), and their cafeteria (that’s right, they have their own cafeteria) has a big screen TV in it! What you’re about to see is part one of the Oakley tour. I’m going back next week to get the rest of it when I’ve calmed down a bit. Stay tuned…
Outside the front entrance… If you live anywhere near the Lake Forest area, you should really go down and check the place out for yourself. They give guided tours, and they even have a retail shop where you can purchase pretty much anything they make. We guarantee you won’t be disappointed. credit: James Ayres
Yes, Oakley sponsors a drag car team…See that body hanging up in the background? That’s the real deal. credit: James Ayres
This is one view of the reception area after you walk in the front door - airplane hangar, anyone? The seats they have in the lobby area were pulled from real aircraft, complete with the ejection handles… Crazy. credit: James Ayres
This isn’t just any old basketball court - oh no. This thing is full on NBA regulation, all the way down to the type of hardwood used to make the floor. L-E-G-I-T. credit: James Ayres
Trust me, you haven’t seen a video until you’ve seen it on the big screen. And don’t even get me started on Oakley’s sound system… credit: James Ayres
This is just a look at one of the storage warehouses. All this for sunglasses? Believe it. Once you see what goes into making a pair of genuine Oakley shades, we doubt you’ll want to wear anything else. Keeping your eyes protected is as important to them as making your mug look good. credit: James Ayres
Next week you’ll see part two, along with photos of some of the new stuff Oakley’s been working on. Trust us, you’ll definitely be psyched.
