The 2009 ASA ASWT launched from Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort with some of the best freestyle motocross pros competing in the first-ever FMX team competition, the FMX Team Energy Cup.  Team SoCal butted heads against Team Nevada as riders, including Jeff “Ox” Kargola (San Clemente, California), Mike Mason (Fresno, California) and Matt Buyten (Carson City, Nevada) flipped and whipped their way toward the title of Best FMX Team.

Minneapolis, Minnesota (Target Center) and Chicago (Sears Centre Arena) were the host cities for the second and third stops of the tour, and saw skateboarding stars Pierre-Luc Gagnon (Montreal, Canada) and Danny Mayer (Omaha, Nebraska), battle among an elite field of skateboarding’s best.  In addition, action sports’ newest sensation, Big-Air BMX Triples lit up the crowd with superstars, Ryan Guettler (Queensland, Australia), Rob Darden (Greenville, North Carolina), Daniel Dhers (Caracas, VZ), Cory Nastazio (Tehachapi, CA), T.J. Ellis (Moreno Valley, California) and more.  Action sports fans witnessed intense competition as the athletes dug deep into their bag of tricks and put on jaw-dropping shows.

The tour’s fourth stop was at Kings Island theme park in Cincinnati, Ohio where the skateboard vert athletes were joined by a host of BMX vert legends including, Chad Kagy (Gilroy, California), Simon Tabron (Newquay, England) and Steve McCann (Melbourne, AUS).  A mock Eiffel Tower was the backdrop for this competition, as the athletes put on a show as thrilling as the world-renowned roller coasters found at Kings Island.
