BMX pro Senad Grosic leads Austria’s BMX riders into the international cap against Tobias Wicke’s Germans. Thirty years after the legendary Córdoba match, the rivals meet again at the BMX hall Brunn am Gebirge/Vienna

For many Austrians, the Argentine city is the symbol for the historic victory of the national Austrian football team against the Germans in 1978 and for the perpetual rivalry between the two neighbouring countries. 30 years after this iconic match and only two days before the two teams will meet again at the EURO 2008, a bunch of Austrian and German BMX riders will revive the 70’s clash in a BMX competition. Organized by Austria’s BMX warhorse Senad Grosic, SENAD’S CORDOBA 2008 will take place at the BMX hall at Brunn am Gebirge near Vienna on June 14, 2008.

With SENAD’S CORDOBA 2008, Austria’s most successful BMX rider, Red Bull athlete Senad Grosic, realizes an old dream: on June 14 2008, he will take the field as the captain of the national Austrian BMX team and compete against the Germans lead by Berlin’s BMX pro Tobias Wicke. Both national teams consist of their captain plus five more BMX pros and five friends. They will compete in several BMX disciplines: at the highest air, best trick and best run competitions, 360 X ups, no foot can cans and flipwhips will replace dribblings, scissors kicks and diving headers. Plus, there will be duels in table football, Guitar Hero and as the absolute highlight, a five-on-five match in BMX football.

At his event, Red Bull pro Senad Grosic attaches great importance to the details: to guarantee the proper style, the participants will revive the cool ingredients of the late 70s: a moustache and long hair are indispensable! Think of the moustaches of legendary players like Hans Krankl, Willy Kreuz and Walter Schachner, the curls of Herbert Prohaska or the mullets of Rainer Bonhof, Bernd Hoelzenbein and Heinz Flohe: at SENAD’S CORDOBA, style is king!DATE: June 14 2008
