Saturday March 22nd, there is going to be a street contest in San Diego. Everyone is supposed to meet by 1pm at Balboa Park at the fountain. Please see flyer for additional information.

so… the word on the streets is that this guy is going to be charging entry but not giving a 100% payout. so that would be him making money. then it was mentiod to me that it is not a rider putting this on. just a kid that wants to sell shirts in the bmx world. the guy above me is so pissed cuz there is no money in bmx. if you ride it. you are broke to. unless you one of the lucky few. so on that note. KOIT OR WHOEVER YOU ARE…. LET’S HERE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY?? WHY SHOULD WE COME TO YOUR JAM? WHAT WILL YOU DO FOR BMX?? and i live in sd and im pretty sure i dont know you. so what’s up. get to explaining.

1) Koit rides. As in, rides very well. He is a flatlander. I’ve personally seen him bust out.
2) Very, very unlikely he’s making any money off these events, if he is holding back some entry then he’s using that to pay for gas.
3) First rule is not just koit - it’s Kweli.
4) Your comments tell me that you have never organized your own contest. If you had you would know how much work goes into this and how little money there is to be made, unless you are doing something huge like the X-games . I’ve helped him with some of the work and I can tell you that there’s absolutely no way he’s ever broken even on this!

I doubt he’s making money, but San Diego has a pretty tight knit scene. It’s pretty weird that some dude that no one knows is all of a sudden throwing a illegitimate contest in the city. I can see why guys like Billy (billdozer) are a little apprehensive about it. If I’m around, maybe I’ll cruise down…I’ll definitely be checking with some other SD’ers before I just shoot 100 miles south, though.
Not that I live in San Diego anymore, either, but you know…

Heads up everyone:
This guy ‘koit’ is definitely a poser. He used real pro riders’ names such as Pete Brandt, Jesse Puente and Chad Johnston to promote his flatland event in norcal last year. Without their permission. that is just one example of the illegitimate things this shady character is up to. If you are all about making $ koit, look outside of BMX. And stay away from Ocean Park in Santa Monica, you’re officially banned just like you are from the clocktower spot in SF.
Us Real riders won’t put up with your painted nails lies and corruption.

Weird that some random dude just shows up at a spot and puts on a contest in a city where no one knows him. Kinda reminds me of a circus/magic act. As for the contest good luck riding downtown with 100+ people!! Hopefully you dont blow the spots up for everyone who lives locally.

I’d suggest some of you clowns go out and organize your own contest, if you don’t like this one.
In the meantime I’ll still be stoked for first rule and for Koit, who is a good dude, fighting the good fight. I’ll offer my support to him and Kweli any time, and have their back when I can. I will also offer thanks for all the great memories that I have from the first rule jams.

everybody should just roll to balboa, see how many people show up, if its bunk just ride out in a big group and go ride. riding is still free, and its like a critical mass, but with real bikes. oh ryan i read this article in the news paper the other day and they even had news report for it to. thumb scans to enter poway park. what kinda commi stuff is that.http://www.mylocalnews.com/nws/index.php?/main/content/skate_park_getting_new_gate_system/

yeah i agree. people should just meet up. and if it is just bullshit then we just go and ride in a giant group. it is free. we dont have to listen to anyone. im goin down there to take pictures anyway.
ive never even heard of this koit guy. but if you can go. just go and we can ride without the contest aspect of it? i guess. so just go if you can. itll still be a good time

if you are going to charge. at least half of that money should go back to the riders.that’s what many small event promoters do and so does our local park. the last clairmont comp the pro payout was 1100. and the park only made about 4. why?? because unless you are promoting the x-games. small events are supposed to be about giving back to your sport that has given so much to you.i don’t agree and will not be supporting your profit engineered event. niether will our whole city. and mother nature too sucka cus it’s 1 o’clock and your jam is rained out buddy.. now you lost money. suck it. you can still rep sd ryan. when we call you. you still meet up.

I respect those of you who aren’t familiar with First Rule and their jams who are going to check it out for themselves and form your own opinions. Koit, Kweli, and Chris…and all the other riders who help put these events on are hella down to earth and just do it for the love…that’s why so many people go..cuz it’s free, you win prizes, get BBQ, and get to ride with a hundred other riders who love BMX..that’s what it’s allabout. I don’t understand the Haters, but I guess that’s how they feel…

fuck the haters. makin money? whos makin money? cuz every event i went to put out by first rule was fucking free. the riders love the jam, so why hate? is it cuz socal could never throw a sucessful street jam? if you dont like first rule, then dont show up. sitting there behind your computers talkin shit doesnt do anything for the bmx community. these jams were first put out because the local skateparks do not let bikers in, so they take it to the streets. so until they put up more bike friendly parks then i’ll support the street jams fully.

i dont know him but if its bmx plus and all the magazines im pretty sure its not gonna be a bunch of bull shit ya know. He seems real nice. Him and Chad Johnston did it last year and it turned out really good. And the top three got tons of parts.
