BMX Icon Leigh Ramsdell Joins Mongoose as Team Manager
Mongoose is stoked to announce that BMX legend Leigh Ramsdell will be joining the brand as team manager for all riders. A fixture in the BMX world more than2 decades, Ramsdell has tremendous experience in various roles within the industry.
From 1993 to 2005, Ramsdell rode professionally for the lieks of Eastern Bikes, DK Bicycles, and Play Clothing among others. He has also played host, interviewer, and reporter for various industry outlets including RedBull.com, ESPN X-Games and Mat Hoffman’s Crazy Freakin’ Bikers series, during his lengthy career, but he calls making it into Dave Mirra’s Freestyle BMX video game as on of his proudest and sweetest accomplishments.
“Being a part of Mongoose is amazing,” said Ramsdell. “It’s a brand that I grew up with, and a brand that has been a part of BMX for 40 years. That says a lot! Plus, they have a kick ass team that covers every aspect of the sport! I look forward to working with the riders and everyone behind Mongoose.”
Hailing from the great state of North Carolina, Ramsdell hopped on his first BMX bike at 14 years-old and entered his first competition at 15. From that point on, Ramsdell was hooked and turned pro in the early 1990s becoming known for his fearless, go-for-it attitude. Some have mentioned that Ramsdell has a vurly BMX style, but it is his gumption that sets him apart from the rest – crashing hard, but getting back up until pulling his next trick.
“Rider support is a huge priority for Mongoose in 2014,” said Dave Duecker, Mongoose Global Brand Director. “We’re excited to bring a BMX veteran like Ramsdell on board. He is someone who knows the industry inside and out.”
