For the past two days we’ve been posted up in Huntington Beach, California on the deck of a bowl set up on the sand just inches away from the Pacific Ocean. The annual Soul Bowl is one of the most laid back contests you can ever go to and the riders look forward to it every year.

On Friday there was a “Legends Jam” with Bryan Blyther, Ron Wilkerson, and Dave Voelker. It was awesome to see these pioneers of our sport going off and you’ll be able to see what we are talking about in our video that will be posted this week.

After the Legends Jam was qualifying and Chad Kagy qualified first while Ben Snowden flowed in both directions and tricked every wall to qualify second.

Then on Saturday the finals went down and Chad Kagy threw out a flair whip, opposite flair whip, and a ton of his other normal vert variations and snagged the win. It was actually hard to pay attention to the contest because there were so many chicks in bikinis walking around. It isn’t often that girls in bathing suits show up to watch a BMX event, but that’s just one of the things that makes the annual Soul Bowl different from all the other contests out there. Look for our video from the event soon, but for now enjoy the results and these photos.
