Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro - Day 2 Results, Highlights, & Video

We just wrapped up our second day’s coverage from Nike’s first ever BMX contest at Huntington Beach. Once again Daniel Dhers took home the win, so he is leading this points race for Sunday’s finals. Check out the full results along with some of the day’s highlights, and you won’t want to miss all the action in our video recap.

Today the contest organizers and judges informed the riders that each day’s contest is judged separate from the previous day. What that means is riders are not penalized for doing the same lines, tricks, or runs as what they did yesterday. And since the top ten guys from the first three days make the finals on Sunday, it puts less pressure on some of the top riders to throw down their most difficult tricks . However, even given these circumstances, no one not let off the throttle, and today was bananas! Here is some of what went down:

- There were more hot chicks out today than yesterday, and tomorrow there will probably be even more. I love this contest, and I can’t wait to go through my photos from today. You guys will NOT be disappointed in Sunday night’s final photo gallery from this event!
- Matt Sparks went down hard on a flair in practice and knocked himself out, so in his runs he didn’t ride very well as he was still a bit foggy in the head.
- Nicholi Rogatkin did a flip whip on his custom 18″ Diamondback.
- Trey Jones and Chase Hawk were the style cats of the day, and once again proved to be very fun to watch.
- Scotty Cranmer tried to start his first run with a flip double whip over the box, but crashed. He also crashed a huge frontfilp over the long box in his second run. Scotty could probably do “safe” runs with stuff he knows he can pull and place very well in contests, but it seems like he is really trying to push himself these days, which is awesome, even though it makes him not place as high in competition.
- Ryan Guettler put on a bright red old school Vans racing uniform during practice and ripped up the course with nac-nacs and kickouts. Rad!
- Marcus Tooker 360ed a transfer that no one else even jumped.
- Andy Buckworth did the same runs as yesterday, but they were still just as impressive.
- Craig Mast found lines that worked for him a little better today, and will probably improve some more tomorrow.
- Dennis Enarson flip-whipped the long box, which is absolutely absurd.
- Allan Cooke did a barspin over a gap that no one else jumped and rode really well. He’s been in the contest scene a super long time, and even with his new brakeless/freecoaster style, he is still killing it and riding better than ever.
- Mike Spinner did a 1080, then triple whipped the quarter right after. I can’t help but feel like Spinner has so many more tricks that he just doesn’t bring out at contests, and doesn’t quite fill his run with enough back-to-back moves to come out on top like I know he could.
- Garrett Reynolds did similar runs as yesterday, but since we are all fans of Garrett, who cares… Watching him ride is always a treat.
- Rob Darden brought the heat today and killed the long box and big quarters again.
- Diogo Canina did the same massive 16ft flair transfer that he did yesterday, but also managed to pack his runs with a ton of other stuff including a 720 over the long box to help him get the second place spot today.
- Daniel Dhers is a machine that can not be beat right now. If he doesn’t crash tomorrow, he’ll definitely win again.
