The new Kink DVD Safety First is due out this November; what has the video-making process been like?
Filming for the video has been an awesome time. It has honestly been a relatively painless experience. There weren’t too many road blocks you would normally plan on hitting filming a video in a year. Things can get stressful at times but that’s to be expected.

You and the team have been traveling quite a bit lately and doing lots of shop tours and stuff; where all have you gone these last few months?
We have basically been on the road since February. We wanted to cover as much ground as possible for the video. We didn’t want to limit ourselves to one style of riding or spot. One of the things I am most stoked on is that there is so much variety in the video. We hit spots covering the Northeast all the way across the country to the West coast. And every aspect of riding can be seen. Nib jibs to dead man stuff, trails, street, concrete and a little bit of indoor skatepark footy really gives the video a well rounded feel.
Who did most of the filming and who is editing the DVD?
Darryl Tocco did both the filming and editing along with producing an amazing full part (his third full video part of the year). Darryl is quite the dude. He manages riding, filming, editing and partying like a true professional. I think this video is going to be an eye opener to a lot of people about how talented Darryl is on and off his bike.
Hopefully there will be plenty of clips of Jay in the video…the dude has moves! Photo by Z.
Obviously we don’t want to reveal bangers, but can you let us know what we can expect from the film?
A lot of surprises. Flow dudes with Video part of the year worthy sections and veterans proving why they are still the best. Full sections from Tony Hamlin, Sean Sexton, KC Badger, Lil Jon/Landon Anderson split part, Darryl Tocco, Albert Mercado, Aaron Smith and Chris Doyle. Additional riding from myself, Tom Dillon, Josh Shaw, James Steele and Jason Owens.
Give us a good story from one of your filming trips…
We took a ton of trips in the filming process and each one of them was a great experience. There isn’t one particular story that stands out in my mind. The end of this last trip myself, Tony and Darryl just got back from was quite the story but it really had nothing to do with bike riding. We were winding down from about a month on the road and it all ended with a few days in a mansion in L.A. overlooking the back lot of Universal Studios. 6 very nice ladies were kind enough to let us stay at there place for a few days and just chill. Are bikes didn’t even make it out of the rental car and we watched Prison Break for about 18 hours straight.
Anything else we should know or you want to say?
The video will be available in November. We are premiering the trailer at Interbike and it will be online then as well. The first video premiere for it will be in Rochester, NY on October 25 at The Red Bull Trick or Treat Jam that is taking place. Everyone involved with the video is super excited to be able to show kids what Kink is all about. Hopefully everyone gets a chance to see the video and gets stoked on going and riding their bike afterwards
