2009 marks the ten year anniversary of Fit Bike Co. and instead of receiving, Fit is giving us Stay Fit in every way possible. From 30 Web videos to a solid production to a huge premiere party. We decided it was time for a quick interview with Robbie Morales to get some of the lost details on the upcoming DVD.

Justin floating through a section at Solame.

Alright, let’s get it going. Even though I know we already talked about it, I think the question people want to know most about is whether or not Mikey is going to have a part in Stay Fit?
That is the big question and you will have to wait and see.

Rumor has it that he was doing some 180’s out in front of his house the other day…
Could be, I will tell you this; Mikey is the most determined individual I have ever met. That being said you better believe he is doing his best to get back to what he loves. He is going to therapy and doing everything he can to get better. It really is amazing.

Can’t wait to see Mikey riding again…

I’m psyched on the idea, and I’m sure everyone else is. So, as of now, is it planned for the entire pro team to have full sections? Any of the Am/Flow guys lining up to get a full section?
The pro team will have their own sections and a couple of montages mixed in for the am and flow squads. The footage that is coming in from the ams and flow guys has been really good; there should be some surprises also.

For a while it looked like Navaz was going to be doing Stay Fit, then that all fell through…what happened there?
His role has changed and he will be a contributing filmer for STAY FIT.

Chase doing only what he can do: quick hop up four then hop-to-wall over the rail…

I didn’t know that. Glenn PP Milligan is still the main dude, right? Are there any sort of art direction ideas planned or is it too early yet? No plans for some fancy HD/Bluray type thing, right? Straightforward BMX?
Yes, although it will be a nice mix of different styles and formats. The main thing will be the riding, and you can expect a clean straightforward vibe.

Asking this one out of turn, any other contributing filmers that are locked in?
Larry Alvarado, Marco Svizzero, Richard Krumm, and Darryl Tocco are in.

Darryl Tocco will be helping this guy put together yet another epic section…

Since Glenn is based in Cali, does that mean that the team will be spending a bunch of time out this way?
Most of the team migrates out here during the winter months to escape the bad weather. That has been a plus and we have been on a spot finding mission as of late. Just when ya think everything has been done and spots are over, you find a bunch of new ones and the riding keeps progressing.

Eddie living the life in California.

For sure…what sort of other trips are in the works?
A couple of small overseas trips and the usual domestic road trips. We will log plenty of miles and try hit as many spots as possible. Day and night missions also.

Can you explain the concept behind doing 30 Making Of Stay Fit web videos? Making a video can be rough enough, seems like 30 web vids is a tall order…all the boys are up to it?
The Making of Stay Fit episodes are a way for the viewer to see what goes on behind the scenes, and who these riders are. We want to document what it takes to get a full-length project done and 30 episodes should be good for that. It is a tall order but I think it shows how down these guys are for the project.

Dakota can film a Web edit in an hour that will have kids salivating for days. High hop. Real high.

It does seem like everybody is so down for Stay Fit…that have anything to do with this being Fit’s ten year anniversary?
Ten years is awesome and it’s a testament to the team and S and M/FIT’S dedication to the brand.

Does it catche you off guard at all that it’s already been ten years? I swear it wasn’t long ago that you were sweating over the logo at the Vans Park.
So true, it has gone by quick, and I feel like we are just getting started.

Tom’s alligator and Ed’s protection against the alligator.

Word, so the goal is to have Stay Fit at Interbike, and I’m fairly certain it isn’t locked down, but there’s some loose plans for a premiere at this year’s NORA Cup, right?
Yes, the premier is a big part and being able to reward the riders and homies with a premier at the biggest party in BMX is going to be amazing. It’s a bit early to think about it but its going be nuts.

I can’t wait to see all the broken bottles after Van’s part. Anything I’m missing here? I ran through all of my questions.
Think we got it…

Chase and BF chillin’ at Beringer’s a while back.

  • Joshua Says:

Come on Robbie, you NEED to get Aitken to film a full part, regardless of how well he gets back on his bike ! I think I speak on behalf most people if not anyone when I say that just another new part from him is enough for everyone. It doesn’t matter if his riding is not at the level it used to be. We’d all be happy to just see some more clips of him going off a curb and doing a turnbar.

    Pretty please :)
