I explored this industrial area years ago and I figured I knew everything the zone had to offer, but after driving through there again one day on a hunch, I stumbled upon this little gem.This wooden mini ramp of sorts was used to hold a giant fullpipe—which at one time was sitting on a trailer in the adjacent street. The first time we tried to ride them patrol officers stopped us and told us we could ride, but we couldn’t shoot any photos or video because for all they knew, “We could be documenting the scene in order to plot a terrorist attack in the area. They ended up watching us ride for the better part of an hour.

Of course I wasn’t satisfied with only having an opportunity to ride the spot—I had to shoot a photo there, too. A few weeks later I was in the area again with Dakota Roche and crew and we decided to try our luck at the spot. This time I loaded film in my camera and attached a long lens so I could shoot from my car before we got there. I kept the camera on the passenger seat under a shirt in case the patrol happened to sneak up on us. While I was still trying to park my car in such a way that I could get the best possible composition, Dakota was already jumping in one side and hipping out the other. While he was still loosening up a patrol rolled up and this time we were told we couldn’t even ride the spot. Still determined to get what we came for, we pretended to pack up and the patrol left. As soon as she was out of sight Dakota squeezed out a few more airs and a 180, too.

It’s a shame we never got a chance to really session that spot. It seams so ridiculous that we can’t ride it—it’s literally on the side of the road! I would be surprised if it’s even there still. At least we had a chance to ride it at all—and we got some photos to prove it actually existed.
