Which parts do you go through the most?
I change pedals often just to be safe.
Describe your bike setup and how you like your bike to feel…
Well, this Colony frame has a super low top tube and the BB is low too. And my front end sits higher. I added a few spacers to my headset, and I put a bigger tire in the front with a smaller tire in the back.
As you can tell, I really like the rear end to be low and the front end to be high. With that setup your upper body is not as much over the front end of the bike. I feel like I am behind the bars and not on top of them or in front of them. That way it is easier to whip the bike around.
What part are you most particular about or do you feel makes the biggest difference on your bike?
I think my frame and bars. My top tube is really low. I like that a lot and I think it makes a big difference when you ride. The seat is really low too. I don’t really use the seat at all so I don’t really care. The bars sit pretty wide and high too; it feels awesome.
Do you remember your first “real” BMX bike?
Yeah, it was crazy…All kinds of colors; yellow, red, and chrome with five spoke yellow wheels, haha. It had really wide handlebars and a really tall stem. It was made in Chile. It was a really low budget bike, but for me it was the sickest bike I had ever seen. I had GT stickers all over the bike. Not too long after I had to start changing parts because they were breaking quick.
What is a normal day of riding like for you living at Woodward West?
I get up (sometimes late, sometimes early), eat a really good breakfast, make a fruit smoothie sometimes, do some Internet work (emails and all that), talk to my girlfriend, family and friends at home in Chile… Then I eat a good lunch, wait for a couple of hours to let the food settle, then go ride. I’ll ride trials or some park to warm up, and then vert. It all depends what I feel like riding and if there are any contests coming up. I ride for somewhere between to two and four hours a day and then get dinner. I normally ride once a day. I don’t really like to ride two times. I’d rather ride once and hard, but I try to always have fun or be motivated. Life here at camp is really mellow and I like that. And when I go to contests it gets all crazy, so it is a good balance.
How did you get the checkered paint job and what was your inspiration for it?
Well, I got it done down in Long Beach at a place called Spin Imaging. Check out their work; they normally do cars, RVs, promotional vehicles, etc. and I just though of asking them to do a bike. It is something different and stands out, and I though it would be cool for photos too. I was sure that the Vans people were going to like the idea, so I talked to my team manager at Vans (Jerry Badders) and he was stoked on it. So we did it, and it came out really good…not too overdone and not too simple. My inspiration was that Vans has been helping me for a while, so for the X Games I decided to build this new bike with the checkered pattern so it stands out for Vans shoes. They’ve had that pattern for a long time so they even did some old school Vans sticker to match it for me.

Coco is the man!
September 12th, 2009 at 2:15 am
great rider, but the frame makes me want to vommit
UGLY
It takes credit away from tailwhilps, in my opinion, like if you can do a tripple on this, you can probably only do a single or a double on a normal size bike. If some like hoffman had this setup in his prime he would probably be doing like sixers(I dont know what the hell you would call 6 so bite me).
September 12th, 2009 at 2:24 am
Fuck up you cock head the hell stallion kicks ass !!
September 12th, 2009 at 2:53 am
you do realise the only thing a low top tube does nd make it so you dont have to bend your legs as much. anyone who can triple a stallion could tripple on what you call 'a normal frame'.
and low frames are normal frames now. if you like massive frames. go by a mountain bike.
September 12th, 2009 at 3:23 am
True that, Hell Stallion frames kick ass!!!!!!!!!
September 12th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
the cranks are primo hollowbites
September 12th, 2009 at 2:30 pm

September 12th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
shouldnt a bike check include frame size sprocket ratio, weights, measurements and crazy details like that?
September 12th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
dude i really dont like this new site. the old one was better. and now you cant even see the pictures from all the old bike checks. im angered by this):
September 12th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
have you even tryed a t wip and something tells me he was stomping wips befor he owned this frame so i guess your a dumbass
September 13th, 2009 at 3:32 am
ima dumbass becuase you assume he was stomping whips? and i havnt tried triple whips. but ive whiped on low and 'normal' frames and nothings different apart from you dnt have to left ur leg as high to get it over the top tube.
September 13th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
Yeah. and they didn't even write a little intro like they always do
September 13th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
I personally don't think a frame sucks just because you think it's ugly, and actually I like that frame, i know it is not a visual pleaser but i'm willing to give it a try
September 13th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
which makes it easier dumbass.
I remember being at a BS comp in OKC in 94 a guy was farting around on a scooter doing 360 double tailwhips at ease. which didnt become the norm on a bmx for over 10 more years.
September 14th, 2009 at 12:03 am
the seat is fit!!!!!!!!!!!
September 14th, 2009 at 12:05 am
is eclat!!!!!!!
September 15th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
holy light bike. wonder what the weight is…
September 16th, 2009 at 3:07 am
probably because he was riding a scooter. there alot easier than bmx bikes.
September 17th, 2009 at 9:01 pm
I got your back Cru. That frame's a joke. Taj did an article on the evolution of BMX bikes on this site about 6mo ago. In it he drew how bikes would eventually have no seat and be a scooter. Well, he was absolutely right.
September 18th, 2009 at 5:21 am
that comment wasent directed to you nz bmx but thats so cool you can wip i think your super rad and anyways i um agreed with you the highto your frame isent going to make you a better rider
September 23rd, 2009 at 10:52 pm
nice scooter.
September 24th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
Bmx is about fun and progression. If you can't have fun because of how high someones toptube is, that sucks for you. I think the low toptube technology is good for saving weight. The Premium Low-Pez light is about the lightest chromoly frame you can get. Yeah, it is not the Eastern grim reaper.
October 5th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
WTF is a "scooter" i must be missing something cause it looks like a bike to me.
October 11th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
To the comment on Tag and his story…he was wrong! He predicted back ends to be shorter, and frames being smaller….Frames are now reach 21.5 - 22 inch top tubes. Backends are also becoming longer.
It was a stupid article for someone on his behalf to put a negative statement towards all forms of bmx.
Or perhaps he is jealous the younger generation of riders have surpassed his skills by achieving more difficult tricks he hasnt been able to accomplish.
Riders ride what they like and what is comfortable for them. Thats what should matter. If you want to kill this culture, then keep bashing it until nothing is left.Be happy with what you have, and be proud the scene is evolving. From this better, more reliable and stronger products will continue to expand.
