March 25th, 2009 at 11:07 am
profile????????????????????????????????????????
March 25th, 2009 at 11:21 am
maybe it sounds an stupid question but what is the meaning of MSRP??
March 25th, 2009 at 11:37 am
msrp is manufacturer’s suggested retail price
and profile = winner
March 25th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
gotta love the fly bikes design.. I like that the first ones (redline) actually gave you those nice allen wrenches with the rubber grips on them.. it was a really nice touch. the whole box and everything looked nice. talk about marketing!!
March 25th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Profile - made in the USA - are also very good cranks. When I was still riding cranks on my BMX, I rocked the bassboat green limited edition 175mm with the new hollow chromoly spindle.
If you’re into it, Profile is also a very good choice!
How’d you miss that one in a buyer’s guide, ride?
Sincerely,
John Dale

I think they fixed the issue in their latest version of the cranks, but remember when Jamie Bestwich went ass-over-teakettle when his Fly Bikes Cranks broke?
Damn, son!
He needed to finish in like the top 5 (if memory serves) to win the Dew Tour. He drops in and as he’s pumping-up the other side of the vert ramp, SNAP! He came down on his ribs.
Jamie being Jamie, though, he threw down a great run the second time dropping-in and ended up winning anyway.
Epic.
Sincerely,
John Dale

Who is this John Dale guy anyway? I personally dont understand why profile was not on this buyer guide seeming how most of these cranks are based off of profile design.
March 25th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
good point, all of the 48 splined cranks are just trying to copy profile.Profile was the first to make 48 splined cranks.
March 25th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
those twombolts look like bowling balls
March 25th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
profiles cut your ankles, and they bend too easy! I bent the SS crank arms as well, after i trashed the reg profiles. odyssey 41 thermal- 3+ years and still goin!!!!
March 25th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
All BMX parts/component companies were contacted when we decided to do this buyer’s guide and were given the same opportunity to submit their products and information. Profile didn’t supply us with anything, so they missed the boat.
I’ve been riding Odyssey Wombolts for about two years and haven’t had any problems with them. I mostly like the fact that I’ve never heard them creak! It used to bother me so much when my old cranks were creaky.
March 25th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
How you could have bent profile cranks is beyond me.Things are bulletproof!Twombolts seem to be killers for your ankles, judging by all my friends who have them.im stickin with profile
March 25th, 2009 at 4:44 pm
And, as things go, some companies will send over info when they see this, so we’ll add as they come in.
March 25th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
Zzzzz, I feel like you’ve spent your two cents many times over. No one cares.
March 25th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
How do you create a Buyer’s Guide where everything is suppose to be comparable and all the weights are all over the place with different units of measure and some measure only arms and some are… who knows. Seems like a waste of time. Dan’s Comp has better descriptions.
March 26th, 2009 at 12:00 am
This post was good, very informative. However, I’m a taller guy, and didn’t see a lot of 180 mm cranks. Kinda a bummer, but more info on lengths would be great. Could you guys do a buyers guide on hubs? That’d be really helpful too. Nice job tho
March 26th, 2009 at 12:11 am
Premium!
I’ve been running those for about two months now,And have not even had to tighten them up once,or had any popping/cracking,and were i usually ride street, one of the first things that go on my bike is either the headset bearings,bb.,or cranks…love ‘em! Def. great shit!
March 26th, 2009 at 4:36 am
yeh where that profile at
March 26th, 2009 at 9:44 am
Twombolts are sweet! Snapped the woms but no problems with the free twombolts I got for a replacement. So stiff and by far the easiest to install once you know what you’re doing.
March 26th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
powerbites FTW<3
March 26th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
48 spline = shit, have fun hammering your cranks off. mine slide off like butter, pinch bolt ftw.
March 26th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
no one is really answering the contests question. CUZ EASTERN SUCKS!!!
March 26th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
you guys forgot curbriders…
March 26th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
wow what is a bmx crank buyers guide without profile :S
March 26th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Profile race cranks are the best cranks & the best buy out there. You can never wrong with quality & Long Time / #1 Big Dog Reputation!!! I”ve been Riding them for over 25 years and never heard of any one bad mouthing them.
March 26th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
WHat is the wedge cluster on the twombolts made of?
March 27th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
why did u guys out up primo’s powerbite cranks. i had those cranks on three different bikes and i havent had a single problem with them once. the crank arm is one piece, you cant beat that. the spindle is squared, with it being like that its virtually impossible for it to slip. personally the powerbites are probably going to be the last cranks i ever buy. hands down
March 27th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
snapped, bent, twisted many profiles. (great warranty my ass)
snapped, stripped, pulled out pedal boss on primos.
destroyed any pinch bolt cheap-o cranks.
41 thermals FTW.
March 28th, 2009 at 11:08 am
Oh wow, a guide to relabeled Poverty cranks! Keep on making bmx awesome Eastern and Mirraco!
March 28th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
these cranks suck, count the stiches in my shin……yep 18, avoid at all costs, go for profile or primo, or just scar yourself for life. lifetime warrenty? should come with medical care, would be of more use…… ebayed my replacements…. pure wack
March 28th, 2009 at 3:26 pm

March 29th, 2009 at 8:56 am

April 4th, 2009 at 11:09 pm

April 5th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
eastern is the worst brand you can buy those cranks straight up suck
April 5th, 2009 at 9:33 pm
they wont be sexy when there broken
April 7th, 2009 at 8:51 am
“This weight savings helps to put the Wombolt in the same category as three-piece cranks that rely on weaker, expensive Titanum spindles.”
Company: Odyssey
Cranks: Twombolt
MSRP: $179.99
Okay, so after admitting that you use less expensive parts than say, Demolition who I remind you also has a lifetime warranty… you expect me to purchase some of the most expensive cranks on the market? Odyssey, your crank sucks for the price.
April 7th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
where do you buy anything mirraco? i like the look of those blacklabels
April 8th, 2009 at 7:31 am
^^ Ray jay, Mirraco cranks suck.
But i’ve been on demolition and profile cranks, they’re both nice, but i gotta say i like the demos more!
April 25th, 2009 at 3:26 am
i love my profiles, this is my second set, and the only reason i snapped my old ones was because i was maggot and hucked some rediculous gap (landed so hard i dislocated my knee)
May 1st, 2009 at 2:07 am
read redline history and find that profile came in after the redline cranks were designed. the rdeline guys have been in the game from the beginning
May 1st, 2009 at 3:46 pm
i like the twombolts but i think they should weld the arm on like the fly cranks hollow spindle and bolt to.
May 28th, 2009 at 11:17 am
Umm, where are the primo cranks in this?
some complete guide…
June 27th, 2009 at 2:28 am
ani thing eastern is shit!
odyssy all the way
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:44 pm
Powerbites are just cranks Primo picked out of a catalog… many companies sold them in the past!
kids!! look it up! educate yourselves!
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:52 pm
ooo! KHE invented “the extra hole in the crank arm”
July 7th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
Nobody asked you to read it anyway. If you’re not happy with the job done do one on your own and you’ll see that no matter what you do or how much time you spend on it, there’s always a jerk to come spit in your face
Have a nice f|!/%ng day Robert
July 7th, 2009 at 8:32 pm
^^Fabby, Nice thinking!!!! you didn’t ride it so it sucks !??!!??
July 7th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
By the way, is there anyone of you who knows how many of these cranks are made in the same factory oversea???? That’s what I thought!!! Continue buying stuff because it’s hip or trendy or cool or whatever stupid word you wanna use and don’t look on the label to see where it’s been made. And in a couple of years you’ll be wondering why you can now buy the same part at Wal-mart!!
