Describe your bike for us… What makes it your ride?
I run my bars slightly forward, 60-65 psi, wide tires for better grip doing tight backward manuals and with a slight slack in my chain. My bike has always been considered heavy or bulky to others and never the prettiest because it gets beat up and I like to run my parts for as long as I can.
You were running four-piece bars for a while, why’d you swap them out?
I wanted to switch it up and also go bigger, so I swapped over to the Captain 9.25” bars.
Why did you switch back to metal pegs?
It doesn’t matter what plastic peg you ride, they’ll always wear out and break. I wanted a peg I could trust to always work, but mostly because I missed that classic noise of metal pegs!
Your left rear peg has some unusual wear on the tip. What’s going on back there?
I got these pegs used from Chadwick and he must’ve leaned in on too many feebles because there was already some decent wear on the end of them. Since I got the metal pegs back on I’ve been doing way too many peg chinks, bonks and slaps on everything because I love that sound. Resulting in my peg being severely worn out [laughs].
What are you most particular about on your bike?
Not much actually, as long as I have air I’m my tires and my bike rolls I’ll be out shredding!
I remember you mentioned that you’ve been running your Shadow Guard or chain—I can’t remember which it was—for like two years… is that right?
Yeah, I’ve ran my Shadow Supreme chain for two years, Shadow Killer cranks for two and a half years and my Shadow sprocket guard for three years! Also, just recently had to retire a pair of Shadow bar ends that lasted four years! To say the least, Shadow makes the strongest parts out there!
What was the last major change you made to your bike—setup wise—that made a big difference?
Getting the taller Volume Captain bars made my bike feel better, not sure why, but I feel a little more in control.
