As a bonus today we got Ben to answer some questions about his setup…

What happened with Premium and how did you end up riding a full Sunday kit?
Premiums goals/intentions and mine have been pulling into slightly different directions over the past 6 months until finally they split. And now were on separate paths doing our own things with no bad blood. As far as the Sunday kit… B-Dubbs (Ben Ward) had said something to the guys Jim and Nuno or whoever, I’m not 100% sure, that I had split with Premium and was doing my own thing. Next thing I knew I had a new kit in front of me with some Odyssey parts to go with it. More of just a friendly “here you go” type a thing than anything else.

Since you’re running the new wave Sunday, have you tried to test its dent-resistance? You know, like smash it against a ledge?
I’m pretty sure Mike Hoder might have already put it to the test on that one; I’ll just go ahead and trust the design.

Out of all the parts you switch over, you held onto the Haro Big-block pedals, what’s up with that?
Haro small block pedals I might add…haha. I’ve been running them for seven years now. I ended up with the very last pair that Haro had and I don’t know what I’m going to do now, they were my favorite. (Tear)

And where’d you find those matching grips?
I was sneaking around the Ride office after you guys did the ‘07 Buyer’s Guide and found them in a box with about 100 other pairs.

Because most people probably won’t realize it right away, what’s the notch in those forks for?
It’s to keep your peg on the rail at all times when you’re on a kinked rail or whatever else. I don’t know why anyone else hasn’t thought to do it before. Seems legit.

So, you’re brakeless…how long has that been going on and do you think you’ll go back? Any plans to cut those mounts, or at least ‘dem axles?
I definitely don’t plan on going back to brakes ever again, I’ve done everything without them that I had done before so it seems pointless for me to run them. However I really do need to cut my rear axels, having the brake mounts on the seat stay I might just leave them, they stay out of the way. (Besides that, I) cut my bars a half-inch each side, my front axles, and my seatpost is about an inch long.

What parts do you change out most often?
For a while it seemed like frames but now I have a whole new set up only time will tell. Maybe just bar ends, grips and seats.

Are you particular about the way your bike is set up?
Not too much, I just like everything slammed (stem, seat and rear wheel). If I keep it like that my set up never really changes.

Thanks?
Everyone from Premium for everything they’ve done in the past, Ben Ward and everyone at Odyssey, Jim C. for making dialed bikes, Adio for keeping my feet warm, Resurrect for the cases upon cases of drinks, Eddie, Jay, Fudger, and all my other good friends, and most importantly my family.
