Growing up in England I never thought we had anything to ride. All the skateparks were worn down relics from the 1970s, and every magazine and video from the U.S. seemed to unveil another Mecca on the opposite side of the Atlantic—or at least that’s how it seemed at the time.

As time has evolved I’ve learned to appreciate that Europe has its fair share of amazing spots. Some cities even have more than their fair share. Now that most of the 70s parks have been demolished I question why I didn’t ride more of them while they were still around. And I’m certainly trying not to make the same mistake twice.

When we started filming for a Proper DVD earlier this year, one of the main goals was to document as many unique spots and as much unique riding as Europe has to offer. So far we’ve found treasures in England, France, Spain, Belgium, and Holland. Hopefully there is a lot more to come and some stories to go along with them. This is only the beginning…
