From Paris To Monaco - Flatland In Rich Man’s Land

With million dollar cars roaming the streets and hundred million dollar yachts filling the harbor, Monaco is a place for the super elite. And last weekend it was a place for nearly 100 flatland riders from around the globe. This is the story of my journey from the U.S. to Paris to Monaco all in the name of seeing flatland prevail in an unreal locale.

Latent Image #2

For all the photos you see here on ridebmx.com and gracing the pages of Ride BMX every month there are still countless more random shots that we never seem to find a use for. That being said, here is a collection of such photos I shot in Austin, Texas, and Southern California during the month of March. While some of these shots relate to BMX more than others, I think they’re all interesting in some way.

Artfolio: Leif Valin

You might be familiar with Leif Valin the flatlander, but what about Leif the artist? He has been sending me e-mails with drawings and other random things he made for the last three years and I’ve been saving them in a folder aptly named “Leif Artfolio.” After amassing a collection of 25 of Leif’s pieces, I figured it was time for me to share some them with the rest of the BMX community. So here are a few of my favorites from those e-mails and a few of Leif’s most recent works, as well.

Ride’s Estonia Black & White Gallery

I love shooting black and white travel photos so when I went to Estonia for Simpel Session last month I took my film body and a few rolls of T-Max hoping to shoot some scenery and a bit of street riding around Tallinn. However, the cold was too rough for most keeping the riding to a minimum so what we have here is a small glimpse of the town and the BMX lifestyle that invaded it for a week.

Glimpse - Blue Bench Trails

While doing some end of the year cleaning I came across this selection of photos from Mike Saavedra’s spot in Riverside, California—the Blue Bench Trails. I originally shot the images thinking they may make it into the magazine as a “Glimpse” spread, but they never got used. So here they are…no riding, just cool shots of piles of dirt and garbage.
