Although I own a number of cameras, most of them require some assembly, or at the very least, are tucked away in a camera bag.I’m usually too lazy to put one together or dig one out, so I have missed out on photographing a lot of spontaneous shots and random sightings in the past. All of that changed when I got my digital point and shoot. Here are a few good examples.
Tony Neyer’s dad is a musician, and along with a drum kit and a slew of other instruments in their basement was this sweet 8-track collection. I don’t think I’ve collectively seen this many 8-tracks in my entire life. credit: Jeff Zielinski
I shot this at the Mullaly skatepark in the Bronx during Red Bull’s Mean Streets. I guess if I owned a toy store complete bike and was going to make one upgrade I would choose a 44 tooth Animal sprocket too. credit: Jeff Zielinski
I’m having trouble remembering where I shot this, but I’m pretty sure it was at the house Josh Stricker was living at in Austin last summer. I thought it was a clever use for a broken chain tool. credit: Jeff Zielinski
This might be the best photo I’ve shot with this camera. I was in downtown LA with a bunch of East coast heads and this character rolled up. I could hardly believe it, not only was he riding a brakeless little girl’s bike, but his shirt matched the bike as well. He hung out with us for a few minutes and then somebody made a “crackhead” reference and he freaked out and took off. credit: Jeff Zielinski
I took this photo last weekend while I was in Austin. Stew Johnson and Chris Hallman live together and Hallman made this multilevel entrance for his cat to get in through the window. It’s made from bamboo, plywood, and rope, and it’s super sturdy. Chris Hallman never ceases to amaze me. credit: Jeff Zielinski
