Press Release:

The IFC BMX Kicked off its new set of events for BMX riders worldwide this month with its first event in Colorado Springs providing a new governing sanction body for Freestyle BMX.  The Proceeds from the Events will go towards local non-profit organizations and improvement for local parks for our youth.

Colorado Springs, Colorado–  Its has been a long time since the Action Sports Community has seen a Governing Body for Freestyle BMX but now thanks the father of two young BMX riders in Colorado the BMX Community has a new light and a hope for the progression of the sport.  Mark Huffman, owner of Suburban Shred Bmx and Skate shop decided this year it is time to help the sport of BMX move forward and give our young freestyle BMX riders a chance to show their talents in a new set of tournaments and events!

The IFC BMX is only preceded by the ASPA freestyle events started in 1983 only to die out in the late 80’s after the riding level advancement and bike sales drop. Sponsorships begin to get scarce. The freestyle sanctioning body, The American Freestyle Association (AFA), closed up shop. And one by one the magazines and companies folded.   The sport of freestyle BMX has changed very much since then and now it is progressing faster than ever before.  “ The Independent Freestyle Committee is in place to govern organized freestyle events and give a definition and purpose to the sport of Freestyle BMX” says Founder Mark Huffman.  Current sponsors of the event include The March Forth Supply Company,  Transworld Ride Bmx, and Mirra Bike Co.

Under the IFC rules of members and Participants may accumulate points at any IFC organized function in the U.S. Additionally, a statewide level points program will be offered for an increased interest of competition.  Each IFC BMX member and event is a separate entity with the common goal of providing competitive yet safe and fun BMX competition.  The members of each event are committed to operating under IFC guidelines to insure those goals. It is, however, the Participants and his/her parent’s responsibility to understand and follow these competition regulations.

  • B.S. Patrol Says:

    No.

  • Tim Kline Says:

I beleive someone does not have their facts straight. First off…This was written by a supporter of the IFC and the Bmx Community in General…Not Mr Huffman. I know this for a fact…I also know that everything that B.S. Patrol wrote is false! Funny, when Kids dont get free stuff from a shop, the kinds of B.S. they will write. Get it toghether Man! People are trying to make a positive impact on Action sports and their are always haters tryin to knock it down. Support Bmx Buddy… Before making false accusations you should always get your facts straight especially when it involves someone and their family. IFC is an extremely Positive event for the Bmx Community 100% Get it toghether B.S. Patrol and show a little class!

Sounds like these guys are upset because they didnt get recognized by a national magazine. I agree with Tim, it is time that action sports appear in the limelight insted of being frowned upon. Not only does Colorado Springs needs it, the nation needs to see that action sports can draw a positive impact! There are kids that live for this, that stirve to be the next Dave Mirra or Tony Hawk and this is a way to expose them at a local event to get recognization on a nationl level.
You can do anything you put your mind to. So why dont you do the same BS patrol!

I question Mark Huffmans business practices. I’ve heard accounts of Mr. Huffman dealing product he is not liscensed for and getting restraining orders on the dealer he was infringing on. He is IMO only in the business for profit and gain. The BMX industry will eventually be ran by “rider owned” companies which is very tight knit. It is “all who you know” to be a player in the industry and aimlessly dropping names you Do’nt really know, you will be called out. By the way take the NBL manual and reword it and call it the IFC good job guy.

  • Cupcake Lover Says:

Seems to me that springsrider and BS Patrol ( aka ck and bs/hs) should mind their own business and focus on their own issues of lying and and people bashing. It is really sad that you own your own business and say that someone is only in it for profit and gain…isn't that the reason you own your own business? I don't think any of us, you included, would work to not earn a profit. We aren't independently wealthy. Maybe you should focus on your own selves for a bit and stop bashing people, which seems to be your favorite things to do. Team after team, track after track, one day your luck will run out. Mark is trying to do good things for the sport of BMX and I don't see you guys doing anything but trash talking. Maybe you should step back and reevaluate your own lives before you start talking crap. Just my personal opinion.

  • Cos MOM Says:

You tell them Cupcake Lover!! I think people that like to bash other peoples names are SAD people that really have nothing better to do. Mark isnt out their making lots of money and if he is stop being a HATER. He's out there for the kids and people are jeolous cause he's a great guy. I have never met someone so passionate for the BMX/Freestyle industry as Mark Huffman is. He's doing great things here in Colorado Springs and im so thankful for him. My kids love him and his family so stop listening to the lies and get to know Mark Huffman for yourself.

  • Cos MOM Says:

He doesnt race but he does Ride.

  • I know Says:

Wow! B.S Patrol and springsrider it sounds like your Mommies didn't give you guys many hugs growing up! No seriously I have known Mark for few years and can personally vouch for his honesty and integrity. No he was not fired from HP, check your facts or the person your are getting your bogus information from.

  • I know Says:

I have heard the facts of both sides of the restraining order and the person the order was placed against well deserved based on his despicable acts. I’m sure you won’t find the details of his actions posted for everyone to read and comment. If business practices should be looked at it is this individual! Ok springsrider your comments of “The BMX industry will eventually be ran by "rider owned" companies which is very tight knit. It is "all who you know" to be a player in the industry and aimlessly dropping names you Do'nt really know, you will be called out. By the way take the NBL manual and reword it and call it the IFC good job guy”. Seriously join the real world drink a Red Bull, have some coffee and smell the fresh air, you need to come out of the fantasy land you are living in. You really think that businesses should run by enthusiasts that have no real world business sense just because they ride? I also think you should take the time and read the NBL and ABA rule books and see that they are not all that different. Are you going to post hate mail about those organizations!
