Modifications/Other/Extras:
I flip my grips around and cut the flanges off, I love them that way. And I cut a piece of tire and put it between my bottom bracket and sprocket to make my cranks spin less without having to tighten them that much.
Which parts do you go through the most?
Probably grips. I ride a lot so I wear through a pair about once a month.
Describe your bike setup and how you like your bike to feel…
I like big bars with a spacer underneath the stem to raise them even higher because I’m a fairly tall guy. I like to put about 95 psi in my tires because the harder my tires are the easier it is to go fast. And I like everything to run smooth. When my bike is dialed I get way more stoked to ride. Oh, and I don’t like my bike to get too light. I like a little bit of weight under me when I’m riding trails. I had a really light bike for a little bit and I just wasn’t feeling it.
What part are you most particular about or do you feel makes the biggest difference on your bike?
I’d say my frame. I went through a bunch of different frames and they are the only things to me that take a little time to get used to. I’m stoked on the Haro Convert now though. It has the perfect specs for me.
Do you remember your first “real” BMX bike?
Yup, S&M dirt bike classic. Before that I had some huge Schwinn, but I don’t think it was really considered a BMX bike back then. My mom got it for me because we saw TJ Lavin at the X Games when it was in San Diego.
When do you decide when to ride and not ride pegs?
I put pegs on and take them off constantly. I ride street with pegs and trails without them. And I ride big skateparks without them and little ones with them usually. I love pegs, but they make my bike feel weird when I’m in the air a lot. I don’t know why, I’ve just always been like that. Maybe one day I will get over it and leave them on for good.
Do you work on your own bike?
When I go to Haro to get a new frame, Chris Raceless usually throws it together and dials in my brakes for me in like 30 minutes. That dude is a machine. Thanks Chris! And if there’s something I need help with Miguel or Lobes usually help me out. Thanks dudes! But other than that, I do it on my own. Oh, and Henry at East County BMX always helps me out whenever I need it. I bring him wheel setups all the time and he laces them up. Thanks East County BMX for the support!
What’s the status with your shoulder injury and riding right now?
I go to the doctor in a few days to get the word. It feels better than before I got the surgery already, so hopefully he says I’m good to start riding again. I have my fingers crossed!

May 24th, 2009 at 12:10 am
i would be stoked if i didnt have to build my bike
May 24th, 2009 at 12:15 am
Its his choice to let others build it. I have a personal preference of building my own just because i like to, except lacing wheels…though i still do it. I also like helping others build theirs. Dennis seems to be real down to earth guy, hate should be something of the past.

carl your the man and joseph putting the tire in between the cranks is the same concept as putting the grip flange in the crank is simply just replacing a spacer with a rubber(preferable) or somewhat soft chunk and it prevents your crank from spinning at all and thats for tricks like decades tailwhips just about anything where your off the pedals of your bike
May 24th, 2009 at 9:44 am
yes you can build your ouw bike.. fucking fag

if i was that good of a rider i would get other ppl to do my bike its a pain to do it yourself and hey who cares if go does or not hes an awesome rider one of my faves, i want his bike lol
May 25th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
id hate to be on my sponsors cock like that, i like riding parts that i like.
May 26th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
he cuts an old tire and makes it small enough to go into the bottom bracket. thus causing his cranks to tighten and not spin so much. SMART ONES!!! There are a lot of pros who do this!!!
May 27th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
working on a bmx bike is easy, try having a motocross bike…
when you can, why not have a pro build your setup? I can do oil changes and suspension work too, but i still pay a pro to do it. When you have a job, or a life, time is precious and should be spent riding not wrestling a wheel together.
