Uhhh…well I’m not an expert or anything…but I know enough to know that butted tubing doesn’t stop anything from bending…butting means different thicknesses in sections of tubing…it’s supposed to minimize weight where thick tubing isn’t needed and maximize strength where it is needed. It’s a weight savings process…and if anything, a butted tube will fail before a straight gauge tube. I’m not saying that Scerbos aren’t bombproof…just that what that guy says implies that butting increases strength…it doesn’t.

You are correct about the butted tubing saving weight by thinning out areas where less stress occurs and thickening the tubing to maximize strength in areas where it is needed. So I don’t understand what you are arguing about. Yes they will be lighter but beefing up areas of high stress like the bends of the bars will prevent failure.

Andrew, all parts companies were contacted and asked to contribute to this feature and these are the companies that came through with the info for you in the week we gave them. Hopefully next time we will get more replies. This was a test for this type of feature and we plan to do others real soon. Which part do you want to know about next?

it doesnt say anything about being thicker where it matters and thats why they dont bend. plus you dont make them thicker you just machine out material not needed. also, sunday has only been around for like what 5 years or so right? so how do they have 7-8yrs experience heat treating?

yea cranks! alot of problems with cranks cuz evryone wants light bike my right crank arm is slowly cracking, and i cant find my paper work =( does stolen bmx have a lifetime warranty on their cranks?

You right about it taking’ off weight, but you have to think a bit deeper. By taking’ off weight where it’s not needed will make the bars lighter & with less weight where it’s not needed its taking’ extra stress off of the bars. think about it like this, Shaving an oz. off of one part isn’t a big deal but. 3oz on bars, 32 on a frame 5 on both hubs,5 on seat post and seat. 3 on stem, 10 on tires that 58 oz or 3.63 pounds, right? so that less weight your bike ahs to carry for no reason. It’s like fat people and the potential to have bad joint because they are heavy, get it?

It’s crazy how many companies copy the 12* back and 1* up of the original slam bars. The bmx industry is so flooded with copies of copies of copies.

I was being dumb…I wasn’t considering that butting could also mean INCREASING the thickness of the tubing in some spots, not just decreasing it in spots.

What’s with complaining about copying? Squirrels have five fingers, so do meerkats and hampsters, they must be copying humans… certain other features like ergonomics, evolution, trial and error dictate that optimal positions, and or features will be the most replicated. Trees are copying capillaries, storm cloud formations are copying vortexes. dogs are copying cats. whales are copying sharks, wha wha wha! Why is the world flooded with copies of copies of copies?

You’re comparing apples to oranges. You’re saying that the evolution of bmx has brought us the slam bar? I think not. Believe it or not, not everyone prefers the slams design, and they are far from the most ergonomical handlebar design. Bike companies just know that with the current state of bmx all the little trend following kids will want the big uncomfortable slam design because it’s the “in” look. Millions of years of evolution bring us five fingered animals, but 15 or 20 years of bmx doesn’t bring up one uniform handlebar design. Dick.

Frames?! I hate the direction BMX went in the last eight years. Thats why I quit. Tho, i like to see whats going on in it and critisize it. All frames look exactly alike. So do bars, forks, stems, etc. Nothing is original anymore. Its sad. I never thought i would bag on the sport i once loved with a passion, but when you walk away from it and look at it like i did you can see evrything thats wrong with it. They arent stronger so much because they are butted, but rather because they are heat treated.
butting can help with strength, but mostly it is just to lose weight, and when you are thinning out your bars that mch, its a good thing to take advantage of heat treating.

believe it or not, this was a lifestyle sport in which you pretty free to run what evcer parts you want. a lot of riders prefer brakes. a lot of riders dont like pegs on both sides. a lot of riders wera gloves. a lot of riders run their seat post at a slightly higher level than what is popular right now. and then there are a select group who wanna piss and moan about how there arent any new things in bmx. have you seen the evolution of stems? how about headsets? butted tubing? brakes? pegs? tires? yeah youre right “voice of reason” there isnt any new evolution in bmx. as far as the slams and the similar versions of them, they have been selling for well over 10 years. if it aint broke dont fix it. second, last i checked if you work for a living you expect a pay check right? well so do companies that make parts. if the 8pc bars were still selling like they were in the 90’s dont you think they would be making them still? but if they were you would just piss and moan about how 8pc bars are stupid and why cant we just be happy with slams. youre an idiot and im glad you no longer ride, you give freestyle a bad name but being an uneducated moron that is unhappy because you knocked up some hag, gained some sympathy weight and had to sell your bike and camaro to buy a trailor so you could finally move outta her moms basement. do us all a favor and stop coming to this website.

So I scanned the shadow site and found out that the newest face in your flow team would be ALBERT MERCADO from San Diego!
