We got the following email from Ronnie B. at Shadow this morning about Johnny Devlin leaving the Sparky’s family to serve his community.

Shadow

There comes a time and place in all of our lives that we meet somebody that changes it.

Johnny Devlin was one of these people.

I have known Johnny for many years and have always appreciated his outlook on life. It is one that is refreshing and positive.

Over the past 4 years, Johnny became apart of our lives as a test rider for Shadow then on to the flow team which ultimately lead to become our in house videographer and very close friend.

As I might be sad to see him leave, I know that his journey ahead of him is one that is very honorable and life changing.

So we at Shadow and Sparky’s are 100% behind him and wish him the best.

Ronnie B and the Shadow Sparky’s crew

Below is some words from Johnny.

_______________________________________________________________________
Hey there family and friends,

I have decided to give up my position as Sputnic Team manager and Sputnic/Shadow team rider at the end of this month to travel and live with our more poor and oppressed brothers and sisters on the streets to help provide basic human needs such as first aid, clothing, food, and most important love. While doing this I will be connecting with different intentional communities and groups around the country to learn and share new ideas and stories about how others are coming together to create community and trying to embody an alternative.

Some communities and groups trying to embody an alternative.

guys!  I would also like to thank everyone who shared their homes, food, and lives with me over the last couple years of my travels.

For any questions or comments about all of this, my email is cflbmx@hotmail.com, I will do my best to answer them.

Any questions about Sputnic or Shadow please email to Info@sparkysdistribution.com.

Grace and Peace,
Johnny Devlin

This is cool as hell! I hope he keeps his bike with him though…

  • DISCO Says:

Dumbass, give up the security of a good job and place to raise a family and build a life for yourself to help out bums? People will not want to hire you because they cannot trust you to stick around if you get another moment of “inspiration”. Your bankers and credit card companies might congratulate your efforts, but will still expect cash at the end of the month. So with no verifiable employment, permanent residence, or legal tender you will become a self fulfilling prophecy by letting those around you drag you down.

Most bums are on the street because they are lazy and enjoy drinking and drugs more than work. Most will hide behind some sob story or mental illness claim but the one common thing is getting high. This is the greatest country in the world to make a life for your self, if you cant get it together in the USA where else can a person go? By enabling the losers in the game of life I cannot foresee a greater victory in the long term. Maybe you recently changed meds but I would take a look in the mirror at who you have become before you take it for granted and flush it down the toilet for people that cannot help you.

  • LS Says:

Wow you sound like a real douche.

you are a moron, disco that is.

    good luck johhny!!!

  • seanstallings Says:

I hope you’re unfortunate enough to become homeless one day. That shouldn’t be wished on anyone, but just because of your ignorance, I wish that on you. Johnny Devlin is apparently a sefless person and he cares about others more than he cares for himself. So yeah, he had a great job and great life ahead of him but he decided to give all that up to HELP other unfortunate people. He decided to be different than half of americans who only care about themselves. He’s making a difference in someones life right now. And it doesn’t matter if that person is homeless, they are still human and they deserve love just like anyone else. So before you start to open your dumbass mouth again, maybe you should sit back and think about how fortunate you are right now and then imagine yourself on the streets in the cold with no place to call your home. And more importantly, no computer to talk shit about people who would rather help others than help themselves. Way to show your true colors you worthless piece.

  • lol@bums Says:

they wouldn’t be bums if they got off their drug fucked arses and got a job instead of waiting around for someone to rely on. anyone can get a job, i agree with disco, the only advice or help i would give a bum would be to get a job.

then again it is nice of Johnny Devlin to do such a thing, but why help a bunch of bums in the US when there are more unfortunate people outside of your so called “Land Of Opportunities” or whatever crap you americans claim to say, being poor isn’t really making an effort to take any opportunities you might get. you need a job and money to get around and at least make something worth while of your pitful pathetic lives, instead of freezing your poor arses in the cold. put some god damn effort in and get a job.

goodluck having your freedom as a bum.

  • DISCO Says:

A moron, a douche, a piece, now if you kids wanted to be good Christians like Johnny you might not want to “cast the first stone” or “judge” too harshly. Not that I owe any explanation I was simply offering wisdom about the realities of life. Some of you may have grown up without knowing hunger but I did not. I went to high school part time because I had a full time job and was attending college. Though working the cost of living was high enough to necessitate living in my truck for a couple years in order to afford books and food. I have been fortunate enough to hold a few positions in the bike Industry and in fact left the last one a year ago to pursue non-profit charity work. There is no money in it. Eternal promises of salvation may impart a warm feeling but will not prevent you from eating Top Ramen or pay the rent. In fact most preachers are merely trying to avoid paying income tax. Many of the people I have known are stuck in the same ruts they were always in because of the choice to use Drugs and alcohol in lieu of trying new things. I respect his decision to try something new, but like the old timers and all my friends said to me “don’t quit your day job”.

  • byrone Says:

about 60% of homeless are vietnam veterans that have physcological problems as a resultof that war and is not their fault. well thats what i hear anyways but yeah douche you suck. johny is a good man i wish he would’ve stayed on the bike teams and done this though i don’t see why he couldn’t do both

  • shit-luck Says:

    you’re a dick

  • clay sizemore Says:

i’m not a christian so i’ll cast all the stones i want. and who are you to talk. the first thing you said was that johnny is a dumbass for wanting to help people. if you don;t like what johnny is doing then why even leave a comment. johnny is living his life the way he wants and you want to come one here and bash him. i don’t know you and you might be a nice guy in real life. i just don’t understand why you would come on here and insult johnny devlin, one of the nicest guys i’ve ever met. i’m sure if you met johnny you wouldn’t leave calling him a dumbass or insulting him in anyway.

  • Marxly Says:

This is exactly whats killing society, a guy can’t even go help the poor without some asshole saying its wrong somehow. No matter what anyone does today, some dick has something to say about it. Nobody is asking mr disco to join the crusade, jesus, just let it be, and let the guy do what he wants.

  • Jessica Says:

Always good quality info from this site!

  • steakman Says:

There are a lot more reasons for homelessness other than drugs and alcohol alone. Although you must also realize that drugs and alcohol are addictive and for the more fortunate ones this addiction can be broken with rehabilitation.
Check this out if you want some real facts on homelessness and poverty.

Good luck Jonny, I am shore you will bring hope, love and comfort to the people you meet.

  • brandon koss Says:

dude your a dueche bag what if you were out there and he didnt help just you johnny is the coolest guy ever so fuck you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Britt Says:

First off what do you do for a living? And if you do have a job you would know that when you fill out all your paper work you must fill out an address past job expierience etc. so the employer can do a background check if you are homeless that means you dont have a home so there for no address no job! Also tell me one time you didnt meet a homeless person that was a little off their rocker which isnt a bad thing just goes to show you that most of them have a mental illness and its not their fault. So before you get all high and mighty and talk shit about someone who definatley has a better understanding on how to live life sit down and think for one minute….how does this effect you? exactly johnny can do what he wants with his life whatever makes him happy and others around him,so punch urself in your mangina and shut up! Good Luck Johnny :)

  • Britt Says:

hahaha you just called him out for leaving a good job and not making money, and then you say you left to do NON PROFIT charity work…you dumbass hipocrit you did the same thing! Its amazing how dumb some people are !

  • mr. miamipcrepairs Says:

  • Johnny's Mom Says:

Dear Disco, This is Johnny Devlins mother. I have read your comments about my sons ambitions to do Gods work and help those who for whatever reason have fallen on bad times and are unable to help themselves. You state that many of the people you know are stuck in the same rut they have always been in because of their choice to do drugs or alcohol. How many of those people have you reached out to? Offered a choice to? Spoke to about the Lord? Do not condem my son for he is far from a moron, a douche, or a piece of shit. What you speak about my son is not from wisdom but from ignorance of what the Lord has called each of us to do which is to help each other. At the end of the day he may not have a dollar in his pocket but his heart will be more full of love for his fellow man than I am afraid yours will ever be. That love has sustained him in many ways over and over on this journey he is on and I am much more proud of him for having the balls to do this than to be a successful business man with a pocket full of credit cards he has to worry so much about paying that he does not have time for his fellow man.
Sincerely, Lisa L. Reitz llreitz@hotmail.com (Johnny Devlins Mom)
