Unless you’ve been at each big contest this year to see his progression for yourself, this may come as a surprise to you, but Vince Byron beat out the favored Jamie Bestwick and Steven McCann today on the vert ramp here at the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas. However, at the end of the day Bestwick still walked away with that coveted Dew Cup for the seventh straight year. Here are the full results along with some photos for you…
Vince truly proved himself today and rode incredible, posting the highest score of the day. McCann had a hard slam on a triple whip during his first run, then crashed again on his second run. In his third run he landed a clean no-handed 900 at the buzzer, but his entire run just wasn’t quite enough to trump Vince’s score. Jamie Bestwick also had an uncharacteristic crash in his first run on a downside whip flair, then crashed in his final run trying a double flair. It was definitely an exciting contest to watch, and I think everyone on the ramp was really stoked for Vince after watching him progress so much over the past two years. Well done, Vinny!
