If we are being honest here, everyone knew Jamie Bestwick was untouchable going into this contest, but everyone also knew that the fight for second and third place would be a good one, and in the end two Australians stood next to Jamie Bestwick on the podium after they threw down a 540 double whip and a no-handed 900…
The qualifying tonight was two heats of five that was cut down to the top five after jam format runs. In the finals both Jimmy Walker and Simon Tabron went down and were taken out by 900s, which left it up to Steven McCann and Vince Byron to battle it out for the silver and bronze medals behind Jamie Bestwick, who was more or less putting on a demo and had it in the bag from the get go. This was Jamie’s fifth year in a row to win the X Games gold medal in vert.
Vince ended up pulling the world’s second 540 double whip (he pulled the first last weekend at Dew Tour), then moments later Stevie pulled the world’s second no-handed 900 in a contest—the first of course being Mat Hoffman’s no-handed 900 during X Games in 2002.
