Riders from around the world have been visiting Los Angeles to sample the city’s wealth of spots for years, but the city has so much more to offer besides great stuff to ride. Trey Jones was staying in Long Beach with Russ Barone for a few days and he wanted to see some non-riding sights, so we headed to Hollywood where we stopped by Glenn Danzig’s house, went record shopping at Amoeba (one of the largest independent music stores in the world), and we managed to pull the car over and hit a few spots along the way.
So what did you think of what is supposedly Glenn Danzig’s house?
I definitely didn’t know what to expect—maybe some crazy looking house or something? But actually, it wasn’t a huge house at all! It looked like an abandoned run down shack. I loved it! It had cobwebs all over it and everything was run down and overgrown—so creepy looking.
Why did you feel stupid having your photo shot in front of it?
Because I didn’t want to look like some stupid tourist looking idiot. I just wanted to check out how he lived because I had always kinda looked up to Danzig. He’s a real individual and thinks for himself. He created a whole new style of music and he didn’t follow the trends like everyone else does today.

Roadside spotted bump to rail. Russ was planning on an ice grind, but he had to settle for the double after getting the boot.
How many records did you end buying at Amoeba?
Nine—one 7” and eight 12”s.
Didn’t your girlfriend yell at you for spending so much money?
[Laughs] She did, but I deserved it, she keeps me in check. [Laughs]
What did you buy?
Black Flag Nervous Breakdown 7”
Bad Brains (self titled)
Slayer Show No Mercy
Minor Threat Out Of Step
Cock Sparrer Shock Troops
Misfits Collection
The Casualties On The Front Line
Minor Threat (yellow cover)
Adolescents (self titled)
Did you see anything else note worthy?
The graffiti was pretty cool and just getting to see famous spots from videos. I’m just glad I got the chance to get some classic records, it’s so hard to find classic vinyls by me so I stocked up on all the originals!
