Matt Colisch linked up with Garrett Nilsson to film this awesome edit of him destroying street spots all over Southern California’s Inland Empire. Since I didn’t know a thing about Garrett other than what I saw in this video I decided to hit him up with some interview questions so today you get a twofer…video and interview. Enjoy.

Name: Garrett Nilsson

Location: Temecula, CA

How long have you been riding, and what got you into BMX?
It’s been about 14-15 years that I’ve been on bikes if u count all of it. The neighborhood BMXers got me stoked on dirt jumps when I moved to Temecula long ago.
What’s it been like growing up and living in an area with such a strong scene?
It’s been interesting to say the least.
Who do you ride with the most, and what are your local spots?
Nowadays I’d say I ride street solo most of the time. But Eric Babbel, Joe Riley, Matt Colisch, Shawn Lee, Sean Kitt, when they’re around and down to cruise. Local spots…shoot, mostly street jibs of all sort. TVHS, CHS, ditches, stairs…there’s a bit of everything. It just depends on what I’m in the mood to ride.
What is your ideal day of riding?
Productive, fun, laidback… Not a million degrees if possible.
Matt Colisch said you have been known to be confusing and some even say you are “weird”… In your own words, describe this part of your personality.
Haha, what to say? I dont know, I guess I confuse people. I confuse myself daily. If people think I’m weird, so be it.
Where do you draw inspiration from when riding?
Progress.
What riders did you look up to when you were younger, and which ones are you psyched on now?
Anyone I would witness get wild in real life. Video-wise: Levan, Stricker, Bennett, Homan, Byrnes, Doyle, Condor, Kimbrough, Aitken, The Lumberjack (Gary Ellis), haha. The list goes on… Nowadays, shoot, there are so many dudes killing it these days… It’s hard to say, but here’s a brief list: Troy Merkle, Van Homan, Craig Passero, Garrett Reynolds, Ty Morrow… Once again, the list could go on for days. Anyone who just goes out to pedal around and have a good time.
What are you into outside of BMX?
I’m not currently attending school. When I’m not riding, I’m usually working with my pops hanging doors, making window screens, trying to make cash to pay the bills. That, or chillin’. Usually both.
