Spencer Bass Advances to Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals in Salt Lake City
Burr Ridge, Ill. – June 29, 2009 – Out of a field of 22 BMX riders, Spencer Bass won the BMX park competition Sunday at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour’s stop in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Eighteen-year-old Bass from Euless, Texas earned the BMX park victory at Alliance Skatepark on Sunday after landing a number of tailwhip variations including a double tailwhip and a backflip tailwhip during his winning run. Chris Hernandez was second and Anthony Jakab finished in third place.
“I’m really stoked to win again,” Bass said. “I’m glad that I was able to represent all my sponsors the right way, and I can’t wait until Salt Lake City and the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals!”
“Another solid event today,” Mark Laue, owner of Alliance Skatepark, said. “We’ve hosted the Gatorade Free Flow Tour two years in a row now, and the crowds and the athletes keep getting bigger. It’s really great to see Gatorade taking an interest in supporting amateur riders. I look forward to seeing how Spencer does in SLC!”
Bass is a two-time finalist on the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, having won the BMX park competition at last year’s Tour event at Alliance Skatepark.
With the win, Bass earns an automatic bid into the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals that will take place at the Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge, September 17-20, 2009.
