This whole Twitter craze is kind of…well, crazy. Thanks to this bizarre technological innovation we can now read what people are thinking and doing 140 characters at a time. Here are (in no particular order) our top-ten picks for the best people in the industry to follow. I wonder how many @replies this post will generate?
Corey Martinez – bamatnez
Whether you want to know what he’s snacking on, what kind of setup he just found, or who he’s riding with, Corey does a great job of keeping his Twitter updated with interesting tidbits from his life. And he has no shortage of photos either—like the one below that went along with a tweet that read, “Could be the best thing ever haha.”
Tony Neyer – TonyNeyer
Tony Neyer is always a fun dude to be around, but when you can’t hang out with him rest assured you can always know what’s he’s up to—riding, spray painting inside his apartment, or at the bar. And even though he’s always fun and games, Neyer still knows how to enjoy some of the finer things in life… Like this view of San Pedro’s “Sunken City” shot on his iPhone.

Rooftop – MikeEscamilla
Rooftop is one of those guys where if you ask him “What’s up?” he will talk until your head spins. He does more cool shit than most of us can even think of, and thanks to this whole micro blogging thing we can now follow Rooftop on all his wild adventures. He was recently at Woodward, which is fairly typical in BMX, but I’m sure it won’t be long before we start seeing tweets about cliff diving into a pool of bat’s blood from castle ruins in Transylvania or something. But until his next one, Rooftop leaves us with this photo he dug up from an older journey…
“Just found this photo that never got used from a full pipe in the Greek Alps, I think.”
Nuno Oliviera – Nuno__Oliveira
Nuno works at Odyssey, helps keep defgrip.net updated, and is just an overall interesting guy with a good taste for the arts. Follow Nuno’s Twitter and you may find out what kind of parts Odyssey is working on, or you may be introduced to a band you’ve never heard of. And at the very least you may be entertained by random facts about his life like the fact that he’s “not happy with [his] most recent deodorant purchase.”

Jared Souney – jaredsouney
Jared Souney worked here at Ride for a few years a while back and now runs a graphic design and photo studio in Portland, Oregon. He’s got a lot of strong opinions about a lot of topics including the media, gadgets, and BMX, and isn’t afraid to share them with the world. Jared’s Twitter account may be one of the most frequently updated accounts we follow, and it’s always pretty interesting.
“Robbie. Neighborhood shredder/ troublemaker.”
Ben Hucke – BenHucke
Ben is quick on the draw when it comes to posting Tweets. Because of Twitter I know that Ben is down for Subway’s $5 footlongs, got shit on by his newborn, has been hanging out with Dennis Enarson, and is having trouble with his wisdom teeth. And what’s more is that Ben has tons of conversations with people via Twitter so not only am I learning more about Ben on the daily, but I’m also learning about his friends.
Brian Kachinsky – bkachinsky
If I had to pick only one Twitter account to follow, I would pick B.K. Brian travels a ton, always has something cool going on, and is really funny (see photo below). I always like Brian’s blogs here on the Ride site, so it’s no wonder that I like his 140 or less blogs on Twitter.
“I never thought I’d be on a boat…
Harrison Boyce – harrisonboyce
Harrison is the art director for MacNeil Bikes, founder of defgrip.net, and a really talented bike rider so he has a lot on his plate (and on his mind) at all times. From MacNeil road trip updates to music to spy photos of guys in Speedos on the beach, Harrison has it all.
“Seawall ride and beach chill out with Travis Collier.”
Albert Mercado – Albertmercado
Albert seems like he was one of the first riders to jump on the Twitter bandwagon. He tweets in moderation about bikes, work, and life. Albert is a real good dude, has got some humor behind him, and makes for an interesting follow.
“New bike came in today:) I’m siked!”
Fat Tony & Ryan Fudger – RIDEBMX
You didn’t think we would finish this article without a blatant plug for our own Twitter account did you? Didn’t think so. Ryan and I both update Twitter so you get twice the bang for your buck when you follow Ride. We both have a lot of information about what goes on in the BMX industry and have been known to leak super mega uber secrets.
“Little shits at Battle Ground smoking cigarettes. Dead by 22. – Ryan”
Top Nominee For Who Should Get A Twitter Account – Brad Simms
Brad Simms is known around the world for how much time he spends typing away on his Sidekick. You would think that instead of texting every person he knows to tell them what he’s up to he would just make a Twitter account. I’d love to see what Brad would blog about if he could update Twitter from his SK… Who would you like to see start Tweeting? Let us know in the comments!
Non-BMX Honorable Mentions:
CNN – cnnbrk
If there were a record for most time spent on the computer with least knowledge of current worldly events, I would hold it. CNN’s Twitter feed is pretty much my only source of world news besides word of mouth. I keep this one on my radar just to seem a little less retarded.
Oprah – Oprah
How could you not be interested in what the wealthiest and most influential woman in the country has to say? Did you know Oprah acquired 76,000 followers in just 15 minutes after creating a Twitter page? Amazing.
