Nyquist in 1994

Probably the best thing about YouTube: rare, random, impossible-to-see-otherwise footage. This guy filmed Ryan Nyquist and infamous Norcal local Chris “Butthead” Bryant riding their local spot in ‘94 and decided to put it up. I was waiting for him to do that redudant, stupid “yeahhhhh” that the filmer of Sick! and Too Sick! always yelped out, but it must be a different guy. Ever seen Ryan’s ass? Originally spotted this on sjbmx.com.
From the YouTube description:
“I meet Ryan Nyquist and his friend Chris in 1994 while at Calabasas Park in San Jose. His riding style surpassed any other rider I’ve seen out there at the park. A park I’ve been riding at since 1987. I saw a lot of riders come and go, and maybe one here or there impressed me. But when I was there in either 1993 or I’m pretty sure 1994 I saw two guys getting higher than anyone else and doing tricks no one else was doing. I introduced myself and asked if I could videotape them. They said yes and this is pretty much what I shot that day.”

What?! Were those Hammer Knee Guards?
This is exactly what our scene looked like in the early 90’s. It’s come so far since then because of hard work, and because of the leaders like you who weren’t afraid to hang it out there in the face of staunch criticism.
Ryan - so your ass made it on video in the 90’s. Now that everything is so pervasive and digital, in 15 years imagine what kind of stuff will surface about today’s 16 year olds who just don’t think it matters.
I’ve followed your career for about 10 years now, and it’s been great! Keep up the good work and stay true to your family. There is no better feeling.
Hit me up if you ever flow through Tucson.
Sincerely,
John Dale

ive been looking at some of the comments on this site for the last few days and have found you are full of yourself for some reason, as if you think you are important and your opinion matters, mine doesnt either ofcourse, but jesus- you push a totally dumb gimmick that could be one of those joke ads for fake sports on fuelTV, and try to sound like you are some “been around forever respected icon of bmx love on a message board.” kissing ass to get people check out your realy bad ivestment?…. how about a seat that is round is conected to the frame with a sealed bearing! imagine the possibilities! seat spins-bike spins with your hand on the seat- all the flat-land tricks- its amazing! you should sell that too….. holy crap I just had the best idea: forks that spin while the bars stay still! just pull the brake lever that releases a pin-think about it! FORK SPINS! nyquist would own that shit! Oh, and will those curb-rider pedals work on a unicycle-damn thats a whole nother market! maybe just a downhill unicycle, only you the expert would know that.
