Belgium’s Newpact Skatepark Burned To The Ground - Videos & Photos

Arno Van Rossem from Belgium wrote to us this morning to let us know that the Belgium BMX scene is going through a really rough time right now. Newpact, their local indoor park, recently burned to the ground, destroying all of the ramps and a bunch of the locals’ bikes. Here are some photos of the fire and aftermath, as well as a few videos of the park.

they were building ramps for the upcoming blading event, this is when te fire broke out, you can allso see the bikes, mine is in between them somewhere under the remains, the locals kept their bikes there…

Truly horrible I’m very sorry about that, from the first video that park looked like the best park I’ve seen in a while, I really hope you guys can get back your feet soon!

that sucks bad… someone set fire to some of our ramps here in Toronto… shitty buzz. what do these guys build their ramps out of??? looks like steam bent 2×4 ribbing???

no, it’s just the fire was so hot it melted all the Aluminum and what not off the bikes, all you see left is the Chromo parts, really sad to hear this happen, hopefully you’ll be all back on your feet real soon

Wow, I can’t believe this news made it here! thank you RideBMX for posting this. I was there when the place was burning. I was walking in the school hallway and I saw smoke coming from behind the school building. I got a text message from one of my friends: the skatepark’s on fire. I couldn’t believe him. So I called tom, one of my good friends and a newpact local also. He was crying on the phone. I ran out of the school, to the skatepark. Everything was burning. That day, I lost my skatepark, my bike and a piece of my life

Newpact was THE place to be in Belgium , and it was getting so well with a lot of people coming by ..

I am an american that lives in Germany since 2002 - and since then i have been to this park several times a year - i cant say that i have been to every park in the world - but by far the best park i ever got to ride in - i would compare this park to woodward - in the sense - any kind of a ramp you would like to try out - you would have found something like it - from beginner to the countless number of pros that steadily came to ride there -everyone just enjoying riding together - big big thanks to kemo for all the videos- that you can get an idea of what a real loss this is
I cant even begin to describe the magnitude of the loss - this was my favorite park - and i can tell you in the last months you cant believe the amount of effort that was being put into this place - this last winter i was going there every couple of weeks - and every time i came there was at least 1 new ramp - if i could have afforded it - i would have gone there every weekend - i am so sorry for all the locals there -
especially to the new owners who took on such a huge hurtle - and made something so great out of it - and it was only getting even better then could be imagined!!!!!!!

lol those bikes r still good i tosted my bike well i chucked it on a burning car and was doing 20ft gaps 3days l8r in my defence i set the car alight to mawhahaha
