Red Bull Trick Or Treat Finals!

From riding in cop uniforms to front wheel casing flip whips over box jumps, the night had it all. So much, that it was pretty damn hard to shoot photos of everything that went down. Most of the tricks happened over the center coffin, so it was hard not to hang out there, but then something amazing would go down on the other side of the course. It was rough, but a sweet night that around 2,000 people got to experience in an old armory in Rochester, New York.
Karl Poynter, Chase Hawk, Joe Riley, Big Daddy, Koji Kraft, Charlie Bowers, Garrett Reynolds, Bruno Hoffman, Tony Hamlin, and Kevin Porter all beat out the other 30-some-odd riders to make the finals. Two groups killed it for about ten minutes each…Joe Riley boosted the big quarter with no handers, tables, turndowns, and his barrel-roll-540-flair type things. Joe, Chase, Koji, and Geoff Slattery were all in contention for highest air of the night. Bruno Hoffman spins like crazy, threes out of manuals, backwards manual spinning combos, threes into quarters straight into quick flairs, and a bunch of other stuff—he’s only 15, by the way. Chase didn’t ride the finals…I think he got too into the drink tickets. Koji was the only one doing switch handers and firing huge backflips over the box. Tony Hamlin rode in a mullet most of the time, blasted every quarter, spun 450s-to-fakies over the hips, trucked into wedges, flairs, and spun both ways with turndowns and lookbacks. Pat Lumpkin sent himself every which way—flips over the hips, double whips, 270 double whips, and x factors all about the place. Karl slid his way all over the course, the highlight being a manual-gap-manual-gap-feeble-to-360 on the flat ledge setup. Doing stuff like that pretty much right off is amazing. Garrett did Garrett-esque things…double bar 360 fakies, 270 no handers, and even a frickin’ 720 hop down a five foot quarter. I think the crowd went silent they were so stunned. Kevin Porter absolutely killed it all day long; 720 fakies, superman fakies, and a bunch of wild variations…I haven’t seen Kevin ride so well in a long time. I was pumped and so was everyone else. Charlie Bowers took the win with a combination of Dew Tour-ish moves and some wild tech stuff: Luc-e grind-to-270 out on the big sub wedge sub, barspin disasters on the big quarter sub, whips all over the place, and some other stuff…I think it was pretty close between him and Garrett, but Charlie pulled his first major win.
Immediately after the contest, the Isatopes played an awesome set of cover songs with dancing ladies and some fog before the premiere of the Kink video, Safety First. I won’t blab on about it too much, but Sean Sexton, Tony Hamlin, Aaron Smith, and Chris Doyle all have wild, wild, wild enders. Doyle’s is death defying. I swear.

Results:
1. Charlie Bowers
2. Garrett Reynolds
3. Bruno Hoffman
4. Pat Lumpkin
5. Joe Riley

Best Trick:
Kevin Porter, three-whip over the fence to crowd avoidance. First try, even.
